Burnout & Relaxation in the Wedding Industry: Featured on Hear&See

Listen, folks. By now you know that I’m an open book and I tell you my thoughts and my feelings and where I stand with industry norms and standards. It may not be my best asset at times, but at least you know you can certainly trust I’ll always be honest with you and not sugarcoat it. <3

Hustle - Grind - Burn the Midnight Oil

We’ve heard it all. You’ve got to HUSTLE, and you’ve got to GRIND if you want to make it and if you want to grow. If I’m being honest with you, my business is the product of that movement. But if I’m being honest with myself, it’s done quite a bit more harm than good and that’s why I’m against the hustle movement.

I’ve been there, I’ve done that, and I’ve had multiple panic attacks and mental health episodes over overworking my brain and my body. & not to mention, the multiple “I DON’T WANT TO TAKE ONE MORE PICTURE” ruts after working long wedding seasons.

I noticed feelings of burnout were a trend for me after my first few full-time seasons. As an entrepreneur, it’s easy to become to obsessive about the business you’ve built and I wasn’t scheduling any time to relax.

It wasn’t until I took the necessary steps in my business of setting boundaries, outsourcing work, and building time into my schedule to rest, that I was finally able to start dodging burnout.

Recently, I was featured on my partner’s podcast discussing how I got started in the wedding photography industry, how I hustled to make it happen and then how I turned to rest & relaxation in my effort to escape the grasp of burnout. Have you experienced burnout? I’d love to hear your story. Take a listen and comment below!
